Challenge: 1 in 5 adults in Tarrant County cannot pass a basic literacy test
The purpose of the United Way Intensive Adult Literacy Project is to provide Tarrant County
adults with 5 weeks of instruction in reading and/or math in an effort to help participants
increase in literacy and become eligible for job training programs, such as CLC, Inc. AITP
programs.
Work at your own pace
Classes held: Monday - Thursday from 2 PM - 6 PM
(Approximately five weeks)
Basic Entry Requirements:
- Tarrant County resident,
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien,
- 17+ years old,
- Reading and/or Mathematics levels between the fourth and eigth grade levels
measured by the Test for Adult Basic Education),
- Modivation to learn.
Additional Requirements: (If interested in applying for a CLC, Inc. aerospace training program)
- Unemployed or Underemployed,
- No felony convictions

Limited funds are available from United Way to overcome problems,
such as a lack of child care or gasoline money, that make it hard
for people to attend class.
